(Dallas, TX) — A North Texas hospital says a Dallas newborn caught the coronavirus while she was still in the womb.
Parkland Hospital officials say this may be the first case of its kind in the nation. Wendy Figueroa had coronavirus when she gave birth to her daughter Alexa on May 2nd. Alexa was born premature, and Parkland believes she was infected before she was born. She’s the hospital’s first delivery of a baby already infected.
The mother and daughter were immediately separated from each other for 20 days.
