Southwest Airlines To Eliminate 35K October Flights Because Of Low Demand

(Dallas, TX) — Southwest Airlines plans to reduce its October schedule by about 40%.

The Dallas-based carrier on Monday confirmed it will cancel about 35-thousand October flights because of low customer demand.  Southwest says it’s not planning on any furloughs or layoffs between now and the end of the year.

The Flight Attendant’s Union is nonetheless urging Congress to pass another round of funding.
