(Dallas, TX) — The race for state Senate District 30 in North Texas has yet to be decided.

The contest is between state Rep. Drew Springer and Shelley Luther, the Dallas salon owner who went to jail earlier this year for refusing to close her business during a pandemic-related shutdown order.  Both candidates are Republicans and were separated by only 164 votes out of nearly 69,000 cast in the special election.  Incumbent Pat Fallon was recently elected to the U.S. House in Texas’ 4th Congressional District.

The runoff is set for December 19th.  District 30th includes Archer, Clay, Erath, Jack, Palo Pinto, Parker, Wichita, Wise and Young counties.
