(Jacksboro, TX) — Two North Texas Republicans are on their way to a runoff in the special election to replace former state Rep. Drew Springer, who is now a state senator.

David Spiller got 44% of the vote on Saturday, and Craig Carter won 18%.  Two other Republican candidates trailed, while the only Democrat on the ballot finished in single digits.  Spiller is a Jacksboro attorney and school board trustee.  Carter, a Nocona businessman, is a former candidate for the State Senate.

Gov. Greg Abbott will set the date for the Texas House District 68 seat runoff sometime next month.
