(Weatherford, TX) — Former Texas Rangers and Fort Worth Cats coach Wayne Terwilliger has died.

The 95-year-old passed Wednesday while in hospice care in Weatherford following a battle with cancer.  Terwilliger is one of only three men to manage a professional baseball club while in their 80s.  He served in World War Two and coached the Rangers in 1972 and from 1981 to 1985.  He spent 62 years in baseball as a player and coach.

Twig, as he was affectionately known, became the Manager of the Fort Worth Cats in 2003 and stayed with the organization until 2010.
