(Irving, TX) — The man who killed himself outside a North Texas congresswoman’s home formerly worked for her.

Chris Dillard served as Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne’s spokesman during part of her campaign.  Police say Dillard shot himself on Wednesday outside Van Duyne’s home in Irving.  The Republican representative was home at the time of the incident and says she doesn’t know why Dillard killed himself, but promised to help his family.

Van Duyne’s district includes Northeast Tarrant County.
