(San Antonio, TX) — Gov. Greg Abbott says last month’s winter storm delayed his announcement reversing statewide pandemic orders by two-weeks.
Abbott told San Antonio’s KSAT-TV on Wednesday he’d planned to make the announcement on February 22nd, but postponed it because of the storm. He says the weather prevented delivery and distribution of a large number of vaccines, keeping certain health metrics from being where they needed to be in order for him to make the decision.
Political opponents claim he’s trying to distract from the state’s power grid crisis that resulted from the storm.
