Roanoke Man Charged With Killing, Injuring Kids With Backhoe

(Roanoke, TX) — A man is under arrest after a deadly backhoe accident in the Denton County town of Roanoke.

Officers say 40-year-old Vijender Chauhan was driving a John Deere backhoe on Saturday evening with several kids and adults riding in the front bucket. Suddenly the bucket dropped and the people riding in it fell to the ground. The backhoe ran over an 11-year-old and a seven-year-old, who were both killed. Two other children and an adult were seriously injured.

Chauhan is charged with two counts of manslaughter, one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and three counts of endangering a child.
