(Austin, TX) — The Texas House is hearing arguments for a bill that would require public school students to take part in athletics based on their biological sex.

House Bill 4042 would not allow transgender students to participate in the gendered sport they choose to identify with.

If the Act receives a two-thirds vote of approval from all the members elected to each house it would immediately be applied to start this upcoming school year.
