(Fort Worth, TX) — A federal investigation says I-35W southbound was treated with a brine solution before the deadly 135-car pileup in February.
The National Transportation Safety Board’s preliminary report on the crash was released on Wednesday. Freezing rain had fallen throughout the night, creating dangerously icy road conditions the morning of February 11th. Six people were killed and three-dozen injured as cars, trucks, and big rigs piled up in a mile-long crash site.
The NTSB is still investigating, along with TxDOT, the Fort Worth police, and NTE Mobility Partners, the company that applied the de-icer to the road surface.
