Texas Gains Two Congressional Seats In New Census

(Washington, DC) —  Texas will gain two congressional seats as a result of the 2020 U.S. Census.  Colorado, Florida, Montana, North Carolina, and Oregon will each gain one seat.  California, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia will each lose one seat.

It’s the first time California has ever lost a seat.  The constitutional purpose of the census is the distribution of seats in the U.S. House of Representatives based on population.

Political observers say it looks like red states are coming out ahead of blue states in this reshuffle.
