(Fort Worth, TX) —  The Department of Public Safety says a homeowner in Fort Worth who shot a state trooper last Friday may not face charges.

The trooper drove an unmarked pickup truck and wore plainclothes, so the man possibly didn’t know he was a police officer.  DPS identified the wounded trooper as William Wallace, and said he’s recovering at home from a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

Wallace was conducting an investigation in the Haslet area when he was shot.  The DPS didn’t say what Wallace was investigating.
