(Dallas, TX) — Former Dallas state Senator Don Huffines is planning to run for Texas governor.

Huffines announced the run today promising to expose voter fraud and corruption, finish the border wall, and eliminate property taxes.  Incumbent Republican Governor Greg Abbott is running for a third term.  Huffines has criticized Abbott for his response to the coronavirus pandemic saying he should not have shut down the economy last year.

Huffines did not say if he would be launching a primary challenge to Abbott, although his announcement mentioned he was “an actual Republican.”  He served in the state Senate from 2015 to 2019.
