(Crowley, TX) — The postponement of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics bought some time for a North Texas athlete.
Sierra Castleberry of Crowley tore her Achilles tendon in 2019 and knew that the injury put the 2020 games out of reach. But when the pandemic delayed the games, the 24-year-old athlete knew she could recover in time to get a second crack at earning a spot on the USA women’s track and field team.
Castleberry will participate in a qualifying event to earn a spot in the Olympic Trials this month in Oregon. The Tokyo Olympics starts on July 23rd.
