(Fort Worth, TX) — Mattie Parker is to be sworn in today as the new mayor of Fort Worth.
Parker is the former chief of staff to Betsy Price, the longest-serving mayor in the city’s history. She defeated Deborah Peoples in a runoff on June 5th. At 37-years-old, Parker will be the youngest mayor of a major U.S. city. She says her focus will be on the economy as Fort Worth recovers from the pandemic.
Five new members of the Fort Worth City Council will also be sworn in today.
