(Bedford, TX)  —  The Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD is deciding against a temporary mask mandate.

School board members voted down the idea on Friday night by a vote of 6-to-1.  Board member Chris Brown said the district should change the word “optional” to “recommended,” saying that in his opinion it “changes the perception of us as a district.”

The news comes after third-graders at one elementary school and their siblings were told they would have to transition to online learning for a week to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
