(Austin, TX) — A bill that would increase state spending on border security now has the final approval of the Texas House.
Legislators passed House Bill 9 on Monday, approving nearly two-billion-dollars to send more state police to the border, prosecute illegal immigrants arrested for misdemeanors, and enhance Gov. Greg Abbott’s border wall plans by a billion-dollars.
Some Democrats opposed the bill, claiming it would enable Abbott to fund the construction of a border wall with minimal oversight.
