(Wise County, Tx) – The Wise County Messenger reports students at Paradise High School were evacuated to a local church Wednesday morning after a gas leak was detected at the campus.

Principal Mark Mathis noticed the odor upon entering the building, and shortly after, high school students were evacuated by bus to Grace Fellowship at around 8:30 a.m., Paradise ISD Supt. Paul Uttley said. Crews from Atmos Energy identified and isolated the gas leak in a science lab in the main high school building. After the leak was isolated and the gas was shut off to the area, all students returned to the campus at 11 a.m. to continue the rest of the school day.

The Paradise Fire Department and Wise County Sheriff’s Office responded to the gas leak.
