(Magnolia, TX) — A Southeast Texas school district is being sued over its hair policy.
The ACLU of Texas says Magnolia ISD handed down in-school suspensions to seven students for not cutting their hair short. The federal suit accuses the district of violating the equal protection clause of the U.S. Constitution and wants the students back in the classroom. It adds Magnolia ISD is allowing some football players to have long hair but won’t let other students.
Most of the students involved in the suit are boys but one non-binary student is also represented.
