(Houston, TX) — A Houston area furniture store chain owner is banking on the Astros winning the World Series.
Forbes reports Gallery Furniture owner Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale has put about three-and-a-quarter million dollars on a Houston title, and if they win, he’ll get paid roughly $38.9 million. It’s tied to a promotion where McIngvale lets customers who spend over three-grand on a mattress to get their money back if the Astros win it all. The bets are split across four different sportsbooks, but one bet is for two million dollars.
That bet alone would pay out $22 million if it hits, which the Action Network says would be the largest single bet payout in American history.
The Astros face the Atlanta Braves in this year’s World Series, with game one set for Tuesday night.
