(Fort Worth, Tx) – Besides the ammendments to the Texas constitution, voters in many North Texas counties went to the polls on local issues.
Four bond proposals totaling $1.49 billion were on the ballot for Fort Worth ISD voters. $1.2 billion bond to renovate Fort Worth middle schools and build new elementary schools had a 42-vote lead last night, absentee ballots will be counted today. Voters rejected three other bond proposals, one for more than $98 million to renovate middle school and high school auditoriums, another that called for $104 million to build three new stadiums. Also defeated was a $76 million package to renovate several school gyms and athletic fields.
Voters in Palo Pinto County narrowly approved a $12 million bond proposition for new facilities in the Gordon school district, while voters in Parker County said no to a $20 million bond package for Garner ISD and A $41 million proposal for Springtown ISD.
Erath County voters approved a measure to allow the sale of alcoholic beverages. The proposition, called for one set of rules throughout the county supporting the sale of alcohol and mixed beverages in area restaurants and clubs.
