(Austin, TX) — Beto O’Rourke is running for the governor of Texas.

The Democratic candidate lashed out at the state’s Republican leadership in his first campaign ad saying he’s running because he thinks the state’s Republican leadership is out of touch.  The former Texas Congressman previously had losing bids for the Senate against Ted Cruz and for President in 2016.

O’Rourke is going up against incumbent Republican Governor Greg Abbott, who has raised more money than any governor in U.S. history.
