Austin Radio Journalist Runs For Texas Governor

(Austin, TX) — Another Democrat is in the running for governor of Texas.

Austin radio journalist Joy Diaz announced her candidacy on Wednesday. The 45-year-old launched her campaign at Scholz Garten in downtown Austin. In the March Democratic primary for governor, Diaz faces Beto O’Rourke, a failed candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2018 and the White House in 2020, as well as Missouri City educator Deirdre Gilbert.

Diaz says she’s focusing on incumbent GOP Gov. Greg Abbott.
