(Wichita County, Tx) – yet another string of wildfires burned parts of Iowa Park and Electra on Wednesday evening.
These are on the heels of weekend wildfires in Electra that scorched more than two thousand acres and destroyed a home. Firefighters from multiple area departments were called in the battle the new blazes. Fire officials say fast-moving grassfires are being caused high winds.
Wednesday’s fires reportedly caused no damage to structures or homes, however the smoke and flames did lead to road closures on Northbound FM 368 and Highway 287 between Iowa Park and Electra.
Students at Iowa Park High School were also evacuated as a precaution.
The Texas A&M Forest Service reported about 7pm Wednesday that the #BelcherComplex fire had burned 900 acres and was 50% contained.
