(Undated)  —  It’s already looking like another day of headaches for air travelers with flight delays and cancellations stacking up.

The flight tracking website FlightAware puts the number of flights scrapped within, into, or out of the U.S. at nearly eleven hundred.  Delays total more than 500.  And while that’s not the best news, so far it is better than yesterday when airlines delayed or canceled more than seven thousand flights.

The disruptions have been blamed on a combination of bad weather and COVID-related staffing issues plaguing airlines.

Winter is causing major cancellations for Southwest Airlines.  The Dallas-based low fare air carrier has called off around 575 flights today while delaying almost 700 more.  Flightaware.com reports it’s around 12-percent of its Monday flight schedule.  They’ve also dealt with hundreds of cancellations from the weekend.
