Texans Asked To Be Careful With Space Heaters

(Austin, TX) — Texans are being asked to be more careful with space heaters as frigid temperatures hit the state.

Fire Marshal Orlando Hernandez says people should inspect heaters before they’re used to make sure nothing is cracked or broken. Hernandez wants people to keep heaters at least three feet away from anything that can burn and reminds people to turn off heaters before going to bed or leaving a room.

A deadly Houston fire yesterday is being blamed on a space heater.
