(Austin, TX) — Texas Governor Greg Abbott is suing the federal government over its COVID vaccine mandate for state National Guard members.
Abbott says the inoculation requirement is unconstitutional because Texas National Guard members have not been federalized by the White House. In a letter to Texas Military Department, Republican Greg Abbott says President Biden is not the Guard’s commander-in-chief.
Yesterday, Abbott ordered National Guard Adjutant General Tracy Norris to not punish any guardsman who does not get the shot. The lawsuit claims about 40% of the Texas Army National Guard refuses to get vaccinated.
