(Austin, TX) — The recent spike in coronavirus cases is not dampening the Texas economy.
The latest report from the Texas Comptroller’s office shows that Christmas shopping drove double-digit increase in the retail sector. Spending at restaurants is now above pre-pandemic levels, according to the report. That’s a sharp contrast to other states, like California, where businesses are voluntarily closing.
Economist Ray Perryman says Texas has collected more than three-billion-dollars in sales tax revenue for nine-straight months.
