(Rio Vista, Texas) – School district officials in Rio Vista announced all campus would close for two days due to a staffing shortage caused by COVID-19.

A letter to parents and staff said Rio Vista ISD held a Covid testing site for staff on Sunday and the results led to the decision to cancel classes for Monday and Tuesday, January 10th and 11th over a lack of both teachers and substitute teachers needed to cover them.  The district plans to deep clean all the school buildings during the two-day closure.

Rio Vista ISD will hold another drive-thru testing site on Tuesday, Jan. 11th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Middle School, for both students and staff.

Many North Texas school districts are offering additional incentives and pay raises to substitute teachers due to covid related shortages.
