(Fort Worth, TX) — Governor Greg Abbott is back on the campaign trail after making the first North Texas stop in his run for reelection.

Governor Abbott appeared on Saturday morning at the Fort Worth Zoo, where he spoke to 350 supporters about the state’s strong economy. He also warned against open-border policies and efforts to defund the police.

Abbott faces seven challengers in the GOP primary, but his main focus is on the general election in November, when he’ll likely be up against Democratic challenger Beto O’Rourke.
