(Dallas, TX) — There’s a growing push to end the mask mandate aboard commercial jets.

The union that represents flight attendants on Dallas based Southwest Airlines has sent a letter to the White House saying they want a return to normal.  Union President Lyn Montgomery says the decision on whether to wear a mask should be up to the individual, whether that’s a passenger or an airline worker.  Montgomery adds mask mandates have been lifted everywhere else, so it’s time to lift them on jets as well.

The feds have received nearly one-thousand reports of unruly passengers so far this year.  The vast majority of the incidents were mask related.

The current federal order requiring masks on planes runs out mid-April.
