(Austin, TX) — The Texas Education Agency is providing guidelines for school districts to keep materials deemed obscene out of the state’s public school libraries.

The agency’s new policies emphasize parental say-so in the selection of books.  School districts are being advised to make new library selections easily available for parents to review.

School district officials, however, aren’t required to adopt the agency’s recommendations.
