(Washington, DC) — More airlines are ending their mask mandate.
For the first time in two years, passengers were able to board flights late last night without masks. Dallas based Southwest, Fort Worth based American, United, Delta, Alaska and JetBlue all say passengers are no longer required to mask up but leaving it optional. They were following a CDC rule but a federal judge in Florida said the CDC overstepped its authority by ordering and extending the requirement.
The White House confirms the order is no longer in effect while the ruling is being reviewed.
Uber announced riders and drivers are no longer required to wear face masks, effective immediately. Amtrak is also making masks optional.
Before Monday’s ruling, the Federal mask mandate had been extended through May 3rd.
