(Granbury, Tx) – A senior US official is reporting that former Marine Trevor Reed of Granbury has been released from a Russian prison.
He was reportedly swapped in an overnight prisoner exchange for a Russian drug smuggler named Konstantin Yaroshenko. Trevor Reed was jailed in 2019 on charges that he assaulted an officer after a night of drinking. He was sentenced to 9 years in a Russian prison.
His family has always maintained his innocence and U.S. officials believed he was unjustly detained. A statement released by the Reed family thanked President Biden “for making the decision to bring Trevor home”.
Reed’s parents, Joey and Paula, traveled from Granbury to Washington DC late last month and were granted a brief meeting with the President to plead their case.
