(Fort Worth, TX) — A Fort Worth congregation is trying to figure out what next, now that a builder hired to construct their new church has fleeced them.
The Empowering Temple of Praise, which has 130-members, got a bank loan and hired a contractor last year. They bought three adjacent lots and had a groundbreaking for their new four-thousand-square-foot sanctuary. But the builder started work, then stopped, after taking $176,000 from the bank loan.
The city told the pastor a building permit for the site had never even been applied for.
