(Houston, TX) — There are no plans to cancel this weekend’s National Rifle Association Convention in Texas, in the wake of the Uvalde mass shooting.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner says the city would be opened up to legal issues if they bar the NRA and supporters from gathering inside the George R. Brown Convention Center.  Former President Trump says he is keeping his commitment to speak at the meeting on Friday.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott and U.S. Senator Ted Cruz are expected to speak at the event.  Both were in Uvalde Wednesday afternoon for a press conference where 19 students and two teachers were shot to death inside Robb Elementary on Tuesday.
