(San Antonio, TX) — The city’s first-ever Corpse Flower is set to bloom soon at the San Antonio Zoo.
The flower was moved on Friday to a spot near the whooping crane habitat for public viewing. Zoo officials say the Corpse Flower is expected to bloom for the first time sometime in the next week or so. The blossom lasts anywhere from one to four days.
The Titan Arum is a large plant that got the name “Corpse Flower” because it smells like a rotting corpse when it blooms.
Zoo officials are inviting the public to come up with a name for the rare corpse flower at the zoo. You can submit your idea for the flower’s name on the zoo’s Facebook page. Zoo officials will announce the winner on Wednesday.
