Gov. Abbott Signs Disaster Declaration For NTX Wildfire

(Fort Worth, TX) — Governor Greg Abbott was in Glen Rose over the weekend to issue a disaster declaration for ten North Texas counties in response to ongoing wildfires.

The Chalk Mountain Fire in Somervell County has burned over 67-hundred acres as of Sunday and is just 20% contained. Around 60 homes were evacuated and over 15 were destroyed in the blaze. Some residents have been allowed to return to their homes. Anyone needing help with resources can go to the Somervell County Expo.

There are now more than 80 counties in the state now under disaster declarations.
